We are still trying to find a camera that makes a clear recording and has good sound. This one has the sound on point, but the image quality isn’t the BEST…but pretty darn good for close up shots.  I am going to start saving for an HD camera so you can see every hair in the model’s nose!

FAQs on the Coupon that you need to know BEFORE using the code!!

When do I enter the code?

When you are done adding items to your cart and start the check out process you will be asked for your code. PayPal users enter the code after visiting the paypal page check out…so at the VERY end.

Where do I enter the code?

For Guests or Registered check out: go to your “Shopping Art Cart” in the store, and at the VERY LEFT of the shopping cart page, under the customer information there is a bar that says “enter code”.  Put your code there, complete the customer information and click “Proceed to Step 2”.

For Paypal Check Out (an express route that skips the guest or registered checkout)  enter the coupon code after going to PayPal. Once you’ve been to the PayPal page it will take you back to our website and there will be a space for you to put the coupon code. It seems weird, but it works!

When does the Coupon Expire?

The coupon code is valid for orders CONFIRMED between 02/22/2011 and  March 10th, 2011 at 11:59pm U.S. Eastern Standard Time (check the world clock to make it in time!)

What EXACTLY is the discount for?

To show our love and appreciation!  This is a 10% discount on your order before shipping and taxes. You have to order $20 in product in order for it to work. Our prices are already cheap, so this is just an added bonus of love!

Can I use this coupon more than once?

No, this coupon code can only be used 1 time per costumer.

Can I use the coupon with another one?

No, you can only enter one code at check out.

If I forget to use the code at check out or have a problem using it, can you refund me later?

No,  in order to get the discount you MUST put the coupon code in the correct spot during the check out process. Call us before checking out if you have any problems and we will make sure you get your discount. 🙂

This is a slow time of year for a lot of face painters in comparison to summer vacation time.

I love this time of year because it gives me a chance to check out peoples work, and learn more from other painters on forums or facebook.  This is a great time to find a killer face painting design, or be inspired by a fabric or jewelry etc and challenge yourself to take your time and try it out.

Sometimes I see amazing designs and I stare and stare at them, but until I actually try to do it, it usually gets lost in my brain database.  Find an hour this week and try to create a complete masterpiece! Add your own signature style, or put a real twist on an inspiring design. These could be elaborate designs just for fun, or designs that you could actually do at a birthday party. Simple, yet powerful!

Here is a design I did after checking out a picture Santi found of a venitian mask. I used the same colors, but went out on my own with the rest of the design.

Since we have a one stroke contest going on this would be a perfect opportunity to really investigate new one stroke flowers! Just look up Donna Dewberry images and you will find a ton of step by step guides or videos.

CONTEST VOTING- What do you prefer? What is fair?

Hi Face Painter Buddies!

I have received some questions about the voting for the contest, if the subscribers vote or who chooses the winner, and based on what criteria.

My blog doesn’t have the capabilities to do the open voting like some forums do, I can only make small polls, which means I, or some other artist could choose the top 5, and then everyone could vote on those top 5.

Read the info below, and Please post a comment about what you think is best in your opinion. I know open voting brings lots of traffic to a site, but I want this to be the best contest for you all, not my blogs stats.

Things to consider about open voting.

#1 We’ve had few too entries since my blog only has 100 subscribers, and some are not face painters.
#2 I think it isn’t fair when the pictures keep getting posted before the deadline, because the first people who submit entries have a disadvantage of being one-upped by the next group of people who see their entries and try to do better than theirs.
#3 It becomes a popularity contest to see who has the most friends that can take the time to come and vote for their picture. I know West Coast Face Painters tried to make an anonymous contest for the FABAIC convention prize, but it was totally obvious in many cases who wrote the essays and who did the art because the group members know each others styles. Also, they weren’t allowed to recruit votes, but people can do that through e-mails and no one knows.
I am going to sit down today and try to think of the ideal situation that is fair to everyone. It is hard for me to be the decision maker because I know most of the people who submit entries to the blog. I have to really focus on the creativity when looking at the designs, and ignore who submits them, and my Santi helps me too. Maybe I could get guest Judges…like the Wolfe Bros, or Jinny to come by and choose the winner. Hmmmmm
Any more ideas are super appreciated!!

For now, the contest is based on creativity and technique, which I think are the two most important factors when judging art. I like to see people trying something new with their skills!

One Stroke Face Paint Contest!

This month there are TWO contests! One is for designs that have one stroke flowers, and one for the person who encourages the most people to sign up for the blog. I would LOVE to get a lot of entries for this contest, so the initial end date is February 28th if we get 20 entries. If we don’t, then we will hold out a couple of more weeks until we get 20 people on board!

One Stroke Flower Contest Basic Guidelines:

1. Use a one stroke technique (two or more colors on the same brush) to create some or all of the flowers in your design.

2. Your entry has to be painted on a real human using real face paint.

3. Tell me something about yourself!

Extra One Stroke Flower rules/logistics for entry:

From today (February 2nd, 2011) until February 28th, 2011 participants can submit their entries.

– The image should contain a Face and/or body painting design made by the participant.

– Only our blog subscribers can participate, so, you have to send the image using the e-mail address you used to subscribe to our blog. E-mail me if you can’t remember it.

-If you haven’t become a fan of JestPaint on Facebook, go look it up and” Like” it!

– The e-mail has to be sent to the following address: anna@jestpaint.com

-The subject of the e-mail must be: “One Stroke Flower Contest ” and your name or alias (very important since we will publish the winner’s name in the blog).

– The deadline is February 28th, 2011 at 11:59pm eastern time.

-Only two images (DESIGNS) per participant can be submitted.

– The winner is chosen by Anna and Santi, based on creativity and technique, we are looking for  a complete and interestingly exciting design!

– The PRIZE for the one-stroke contest: Anna’s book, Face Painting by Clash, The One Stroke Stacker Set, an apron, 3 paint brushes, 2 dotter sponges, and 4 neon glitters. The prizes have  a total Retail Value of $90!

-The winner will be announced on the blog and contacted through e-mail by March 3rd.

– The prize will be sent through the USPS  to the street address given by the winner.

– The prize will only be sent within the U.S., unless the winner pays for the shipping outside the U.S. .

– We will publish the winner’s design on our blog, together with his/her name or alias.

– We will publish all submitted images in a collage on our blog so everybody can enjoy them!

ONE STROKE MONSTER FACE- One Stroke Stack now Available!

Hi  Face Painters!!

I hope you are warm and toasty somewhere today. We are getting hit with some record blizzard tonight, which is always exciting! I love crazy weather, as long as it isn’t flooding or blowing down my house…or anyone else’s!

There is a new product at Jest Paint. It is a set of two color one stroke pots that stack up and fit in your purse…lol

They are perfect for those who do a lot of double loaded designs, and the set is much cheaper than individual rainbow pots.  (The Six Pots are $36 for the month of February) They have a lot of Metallix colors, which also adds pizazz to  your designs,and they are the perfect size for a 1″ brush.  Don’t forget…these are almost twice as thick as an the DFX mini blends, so they will last you a  long time.
