CYBER MONDAY SALE & VIP Store Info

Hi Hi!

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving this past week!

We hosted it at our house so I got to experience Turkey baking and all that jazz for the first time in my life.  It worked, and we had a great time sitting around a homemade table with family and friends. Yummy! Still eating those leftovers…how many ways can I prep turkey…. 🙂

CYBER MONDAY IS HERE!!! Ahhhh!

We have Metallix Baby Blue and Metallix Black on sale for $9.50….and two more days of free shipping with the coupon code FSN100

VIP STORE INFO BELOW for Dec 12-Jan 12th

Gina Newsum will be running the shop for one month, starting the second week of December. We won’t have handmade rainbow pots,  special orders, custom kits, or shipping other than Priority Flat Rate.  Also, once you place your order, it can’t be changed or canceled. We want to keep it simple for Gina, even though she could probably handle anything a face painter could throw at her!

Please double check everything before you check out, and then happily await your order! 🙂

OH OH OH!….Also, place those orders a week in advance if you  are buying yourself something for Christmas since there won’t be overnight shipping, or shipping on December 24th, 25th, 31st or Jan 1st, and the holidays slow things down. You might want to insure your package this time of year to make sure it gets the best treatment by the USPS too!

Santi and I will be basking in the hot sun over Argentina…I get to meet all of his friends and family, get married to him again church style, eat amazing desserts, and go see some gigantic waterfalls! We hope to meet up with a fellow body painter in Buenos Aires, Analia Gomez Lima.

Finding Joy and New Life in Face Painting! Judi’s Story

Earlier this year I got an order for a dream kit by a woman named Judi Palmer,  who lives in Guyton, Gorgia.  She had seen someone painting faces at a craft fair, and her creative itch just sparked like crazy. She knew that this would be something she would have fun doing, and indeed, face painting has helped her positively deal with a lot of changes and loss in her life.

Here are some letters that really touched me, and I was so happy and honored that I could be a part of her new adventures in face painting.

I love my paints and at least that is helping me get through each day by keeping me occupied andhappy for now. Again, thanks. Judi

Thank you so much. Yes I am so pleased that you liked my first stab at this. I am practicing every day and will let you know how the body/art convention goes. It is a little scary as I am going all on my own for the first time in 28 years. My friends got a big kick out of the notation in their welcome letter – “no nudity in any area but the convention rooms – or something like that.” My mom died two years ago after living with us for five, then Craig’s mom died (we took care of her too); and then I came home and found Craig had died unexpectedly. I lost my 28 year job right after Mom died but that was okay as Craig and I were getting ready to move to Florida for our golden years and working as a director of human resources had taken its bite.

Sometimes we don’t understand our purpose but I do know that God has always taken me in “out of the ordinary” paths and this one seems to be where he is sending me now. I know it is putting joy back into my broken spirit. Thank you for the advice and I will take in all in like a sponge.

Judi

I am thankful every day that I am a face painter. We all know how much joy this gift brings to others, and the endorphins that run through us while we work makes us feel like we almost have an addiction to it.

There are always hard parties where things aren’t going as planned, the kids might be a little too wild, or we may have found ourselves working overtime and not getting paid for it, or maybe we got lost and showed up 5 minutes late.

These little stresses that go with the business side of being a face painter are nothing in comparison to the great joy we have laying in bed at night thinking about funny situations, like everyone’s expression when a little guy emerges from your chair like a horrid little monster or growling tiger. My poor husband always has to listen to my favorite memories from each gig, and now that he is balloon twisting with me, he understands the magic that we can create in peoples life.

Judi is experiencing this kind of joy every time she pulls out her kit, and people she doesn’t know remember her from the last event she painted faces at. Like most of us, she started practicing on herself (I am having so much fun just painting myself for my cats, all 8 of them.), and then moved on to volunteer work. Now she is picking up her first paid jobs and looking into getting business cards printed. Here are some pictures of her recent work! I am such a proud face painting mama! Keep up the awesome work Judi, and live your golden years with Happy Memories and a paint brush in your hand!

HALLOWEEN!!!!   Ideas for Next Year’s Gig Line-Up!

How was your Halloween? Did you have time to relax and enjoy it, or were you running around like a crazy person slapping paint on everyone in sight?

I started the week painting Zombies at a college to help them advertise their scary movie night. Check with your campuses CAB offices, and the student center to see if they might be interested in your services for their events! Also check in with the colleges sports directors to see if they have a Kids Club for the little fans, or a crazy night they might need you.

After the Zombie makeovers I taught face painting to an after school program called Proud to be Me. It is a Derek Jeter Foundation (he is a baseball player for the Yankees, that grew up in my town).  Check out if there are any foundations out there that might like you to be a part of their service to the community!

I spent Friday morning painting the faces of three middle school teachers for their Day of the Dead parties. Before 7:30am I had three freaky faces in my living room.  Contact schools to see if teachers in your area would use your face painting talent to spice up a day in the classroom!

Santi and I were hired by our  local mall for three hours during their Halloween Trick-o-Treat fiesta and costume contests. Wow, the lines were incredible, but we handed out our END of THE LINE signs and kept rooting on the parents that were holding the signs for us, and we promised them the best balloons and face paint if they warned the newcomers that the line was closed. We had to stay firm, but we got out on time to head to a Halloween Birthday Party.

After one last private Halloween party in a mansion,  I came home totally exhausted. Luckily I kept Sunday free to relax in the morning, do a couple of makeovers in the afternoon and then go out to a Drag show with friends.  I opted for the easiest costume, a cheetah, and Santi was this super weird funky mime.

What kind of gigs did you have this year?

Have you thought of a perfect way to run personal makeovers?

Did you make time to get out and dress up?

This is our new pet monster we found

in the basement!
